membership terms and conditions
By applying for membership you are deemed to have read, understood and accepted without condition the terms and conditions outline below.
The Guildhouse Project reserves the right to update, expand or redefine these terms and conditions as deemed appropriate by the co-founders. Members will be informed in a timely manner of any significant changes, particularly with regards to financial requirements, active or ongoing obligations or pre-planned events.
Membership
No membership shall be granted without due process.
Membership is non-transferable. Invitations to private events may not be extended to non-members, but members are encouraged to bring guests to events which are open to the public (ex: field trips, or public exhibitions of Practicing Member’s work).
Practicing membership requires* a $5/month flat fee through the website payment portal to contribute to costs associated with and maintenance of the group website (theguildhouseproject.org). Members whose payments are in arears will be contacted and 3 consecutive months of payments lapsed may result in revocation of membership. Members will be given no less than 30 days notice of any impending changes to their fees.
*No membership shall be withheld due to financial hardship. Any member unable to contribute in a long or short term capacity may confidentially email the group administration at hello@theguildhouseproject.org to discuss an alternative method of contribution.
Any member wishing to terminate their relationship with The Guildhouse Project or make changes to their membership status must do so in writing (via email or physical document). Refunds for the monthly fee are not available for the month in which the written communication is received.
Conduct
Members take pride in their work and encourage, promote and celebrate the practices of fellow members. Members strive to communicate openly and with integrity, thoughtfully give and receive feedback from peers, and act transparently within the group.
The Guildhouse Project is a place of community and operates a zero tolerance on abuse policy. We aim to foster an environment conducive to and encouraging of personal and communal growth, prioritizing individual accountability and deeply valuing our differences and experiences. No form of violence, behaviour or language that is intentionally sexist, racist, ableist, xenophobic, homophobic, transphobic or malicious will be accepted. Bullying, harassment, gossip, intimidation or threats, on or off line, will not be tolerated and accusations of such will be taken seriously. Failure to respect these policies may result in removal from an event and termination of membership, at the sole discretion of the founders. Membership fees for the current month will not be refunded in cases of termination.
Events
Members are responsible for costs associated with participating in any/all events for which admission, application, registration, rentals, set-up, equipment, accommodation, meals, transportation, insurance, supply, presenter, licensing or any other miscellaneous fees must be paid. Costs associated with group applications will be split between members who plan to participate - refunds will not be available for cancelations.
Members and their guests release, waive and forever discharge any and all liability, claims and demands of any nature against The Guildhouse Project, its members and event hosts, including but not limited to death, bodily injury, illness, economic loss or out-of-pocket expenses which may arise from participation in or association with The Project, events hosted or organized by The Project, its members, guests, venues, or any vendors/suppliers.
The Project is not responsible and cannot be held liable for any lost, stolen or damaged personal property or artwork that may come as the result of participation in an event.
Members must carry their own personal event insurance to participate in public events and exhibitions.
