MEMBERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

practicing members

To apply as a Practicing Members you must have an active art/craft practice and an interest in supporting and furthering arts, craft and culture in the community.

Opportunity

  • BENEFITS; The Guildhouse Project offers a unique opportunity within the community to apply for public exhibitions, participate in open studio events, collaborate with other members, lead and/or attend workshops and join the group on field trips. Practicing Members are listed in the member’s directory and afforded a portfolio page within the Project site featuring their work.

  • COMMITMENT: In addition to attending the Quarterly Happy Hour, Practicing Members must participate in no less than one public event, two educational events and one inter-member collaboration per year.

  • FEES: $5/month to contribute to the cost and maintenance of the web platform

Process

The Practicing Member application process has 3 stages:

  1. ONLINE FORM REVIEW: online applications will be reviewed by the Project co-founders. Applications will be assessed based on quality of work, strength and clarity of creative voice, alignment of values and potential for contribution.
    Only unanimously accepted applications will be advanced. 

  2. IN-PERSON WORK REVIEW: successful applicants will share samples of their work in person with a co-founder and tour of the studio/exhibition space. Successful applicants will be receive a private registration link by email, and be invited to begin participating in Practicing Member events. 

  3. ANNUAL REVIEW: memberships will be reviewed annually by the co-founders to assess fulfilment of commitment and interpersonal integration.

Requirements

  • Practicing Members have an active art/craft practice. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to craftsmanship, developing their practice and building their community. 

  • In order to grow our local arts and culture community organically the Project currently prioritizes applications for Practicing Members from creatives residing in Maple Ridge. There are no restrictions on location for Community Members.

  • To foster a diverse collection of creative practices there may be limitations on or prioritization of applicants working in certain media.

To apply as a Community Member you must have an interest in supporting and furthering arts, craft and culture in the community.

Opportunity

  • BENEFITS: Community Members are invited to join field trips and participate in the Quarterly Happy Hour

  • COMMITMENT: Community Members must attend one event a year, public or private

  • FEES: FREE
